Cleaning and caring for your glass or mirrored furniture
Keep your glass table or mirrored furniture looking its best for longer with these maintenance guidelines.
– Position your furniture away from heat and sunlight which can cause colour fading and surface degradation
– To keep your glass table looking its best, always use place mats to protect the table top from hot plates and to prevent scratches. Wipe clean after every use
– Make sure any accidental spills are dealt with immediately to prevent stains from setting in
– Give your glass table a weekly clean to prevent dust build up. Use a soft, damp cloth and dry with a soft duster making sure no surfaces are left wet
– Use a 50:50 ratio of white vinegar and water to remove stubborn stains on your glass table or mirrored furniture. Spray the solution generously onto a lint-free cloth to clean the glass surface then wipe it dry with a paper towel. If you don't have a lint-free cloth like microfibre, crumpled newspaper works just as well for spotless results
– If your glass table has acquired a cloudy or filmy look over time, it may need a deeper clean. You can do this by mixing a solution of water (1 cup), rubbing alcohol (1 cup) and white vinegar (about 1 tablespoon or so) in your spray bottle, and wiping your table down as before. This mixture should restore the shine and get rid of the film
– When cleaning, pay special attention to drying any wood or metal features on your glass table to prevent rust or surface damage
– To prevent streaks, wipe in broad 'S' patterns or circular motions
– Do not use scourers, abrasives, solvent based cleaners, detergents or corrosives as these can cause surface damage
– Be careful with sharp objects such as studs, buckles, jewellery, heels, toys or a pet's claws on your glass table or mirrored furniture as they can cause scratches
– Do not place heavy items on your glass table as this could chip the surface
– Regularly tighten any bolts to avoid damage and maintain stability and strength
– Do not drag your furniture when moving, instead lift and place it carefully
– Always follow the care instructions that came with your furniture
